A letter from Lezvolley sponsor, The Mixx
Putting together an event like our Annual LezVolley Tournament is no easy task and it certainly wouldn’t be possible without the help and support of our volunteers, partners and sponsors.
And while the brands and companies supporting us change over the years, some of them are solid and reliable partners that continuously provide support. The Mixx, a NYC-based creative agency, has been a proud sponsor of LezVolley for 3 years, and we couldn’t be more grateful.
“The Mixx is not just a creative agency - it’s a powerful inspiration to the LGBTQ community. The CEO, Robyn Streisand, has been a great influence to our community and is a dear friend of 20 years. She has taught me to always be strong as a gay woman, to go after what I want, and to “think big.” And that’s exactly what I do every growing year for LezVolley. I am thankful for her support!”
- Danielle, co-owner of LezVolley
Robyn Streisand-Luppino, founder and CEO of The Mixx (who also founded the holding company TITANIUM Worldwide) has shared with us a letter about what community means to her.
LezVolley: Together, We’re Titanium - A LETTER FROM ROBYN STREISAND-Luppino
When I was thinking of names for my holding company, of which my creative agency, The Mixx is a founding member, I had particular song lyrics circulating in my brain:
I’m bulletproof, nothing to lose
Fire away, fire away
Ricochet, you take your aim
Fire away, fire away
You shoot me down, but I won’t fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down, but I won’t fall
I am titaniumThese are the lyrics to Sia and David Guetta’s “Titanium,” which speaks to the ideals of being strong, resilient, and unstoppable. Looking back on it, I think the reason I couldn’t get the song out of my head is because it described exactly what I was building: a collective of certified diverse agencies that operate as one. Individually, we are powerhouses, together we are unstoppable makers of movement–we are Titanium… And that’s exactly what I named the agency.
LezVolley presents an opportunity for lesbians and nonbinary people to come together and support each other, because we really are better together. Just like the agency, together, we can be titanium.
I’ve been involved with LezVolley as an attendee and sponsor since the beginning, and can’t speak more highly of the tournament’s energy and the true sense of community that it instills in each of us for the year to come. As we leave the tournament, say goodbye to summer, and head into the last quarter of the year, it’s important to keep that energy and community alive, and to also pay it forward.
So, how do we do this?
● We do it by leaning in and being active in our engagement with one another (like attending events like LezVolley).
● We do it by supporting lesbian-owned and operated businesses.
● We do it by speaking up when people make microaggressions and perpetuate stereotypes.
● We do it by being authentic and unapologetically proud.
● We do it by being allies across the entire continuum of the LGBTQUIA+ community.
● And we do it by supporting LGBTQUIA+ youth so that their tomorrow can be better than today.
One of the ways I pay it forward for youth is through my Board seat with the Hetrick Martin Institute. HMI is an organization that works tirelessly to provide a safe space and improve the quality of life for LGBTQUIA+ youth. Volunteers can engage with HMI in a number of ways, from making a charitable donation to volunteering their time as a company or individual.
As a proud lesbian and leader, I make the conscious decision each and every day to use my sphere of influence for good and for the betterment of our community. I lead through my lived experience and self expression, and I will continue my commitment to advocate for the lesbian community by seeking out, mentoring, and giving back so that more lesbians can have a seat at the table.
